The Project
Ghostbusters meets Evil Dead II (the best Evil Dead, btw) is probably the best way to describe this film…
but more, y'know… Aussie…. mate.
Approached by the Roache-Turner brothers, Supervixen were tasked with the job of creating a stylised opening title sequence and Main-On-End sequence that housed the tone and energy of this film.
So what is this film about? IMDB except – A man who discovers that he is part of a secret sect of magical beings who hunt down and destroy demons in the internet. Pretty obvious really.
In all honesty, brilliant job, even better crew. You could really feel the love. The Roache-Turner lads are awesome. Sign us up for the next one, fellas!!
The Prologue
Narrative wise, the prologue took a simple approach whereby focus was directed to setting tone, a few minor story moments yet to come and only housing the studio cards, as the rest of the cast and crew credits was saved for the Main-On-End.
Main-On-End
The Main-On-End was quite a modular project in terms of edit. From cast cards through to a ‘where are they now’ moment and then into a full sequence, capturing the playful tone of the whole film was a big aim during this project.
Again, great project, great team!
The Process
We were actually brought in on this project relatively late, as these things happen in the chaos of film making. But lucky for us, the Roache-Turner bothers was quite clear on what he wanted for the title sequences. High energy, illustrated in a comic-book style and striking,
To get this done in the time available, we hit the project hard, getting all poignant moments outlined for illustration and then created a series of textures to help give the whole piece a sort-of aged quality to it. As if the story was as old as time… which it was.
